My name is Zdravko Zhelev and I started working for Dreams AI in September 2019, I had just graduated university and was looking for an opportunity when Bryan Yau offered it to me. What fascinated me the most when I finally arrived in Hong Kong, was the environment.

The Dreams AI team is truly a close knit community, where we all get to learn from one another and grow not only professionally, but personally as well. Having graduated a BA in Film and Television I was initially worried about the challenges that come with UX and UI design. However, the strong learning culture that we share in the office allowed me to learn at a very fast pace and soon I started making my first strides into the web developing world. A further part of my growth with Dreams AI was my 2 week long shadowing of the graphical and illustration team, where I got to learn the basics of illustration and apply these newly acquired skills in my next project for the company.

Another worry of mine when beginning this job was the lifestyle/ social aspect. Coming from a small country such as Bulgaria the thought of moving half way across the world to one of the biggest most vibrant cities in the world was overwhelming. However, as soon as I arrived in Hong Kong those worries faded away. Living together with your colleagues, who are from all over the world (as Bryan likes to joke we are trying to make a United Nations of Machine Learning) and getting to experience the culture and lifestyle of Hong Kong felt great. We share a lot of common interests- basketball, board games and hiking being some of the main ones, and we are always opened to trying something new that someone could bring.
